Note: To date it has not been proven that the James and Mary (Gooch) Terry who went from Gra nville Co., NC to Jackson Co., TN are the son and dau-in-law of Rowland Terry who died in 182 4 in Granville Co., NC. Mary
(Gooch) was definitely a dau of Gideon Gooch and grand-dau of John Gooch. But the line of Ja mes Terry is too obscure to provide definite proof -- too many James' all close in age and n o definite father - son listings. If this James is not a son of Rowland, then of course al l the James/Mary (Gooch) decendents are not of the Rowland line.

Note: I have placed John and Sarah (Gooch/Moore) here because there is much that "fits" wit h the marriage of John Terry to Sarah Gooch in Granville Co., NC. However, as with the broth er James Terry above, we have no definitive proof to point to. James Terry above was the bon dsman for John's marriage, signing the bond with his unique "J" mark that he used. This lead s one to feel that James was most likely Johns' brother. If this John/ Sarah (Gooch/Moore) i s not a son of Rowland, then, of course, all of the John/Sarah (Gooch/Moore) decendents her e listed are not of the Rowland line.
